5 production challenges in multi-agent systems and how Deep Insight solved them
aws ·
This article details how the AWS Solutions Architecture team developed Deep Insight, a production-grade multi-agent system designed to overcome common challenges in deploying AI agents. The system utilizes the Strands Agents SDK to orchestrate eight specialized agents that collaborate on data analysis tasks, from planning to report generation. Key architectural decisions include using the Graph pattern for execution flow and the Agents-as-Tools pattern for modular invocation by a central Supervisor. To optimize cost and performance, different Claude models are assigned to specific roles, such as Haiku for routing and Opus for complex planning. Security is addressed through isolated code execution in ephemeral containers on AWS Fargate within a private VPC. Operational visibility is provided via an Ops dashboard using DynamoDB, SNS, and Cognito for monitoring and alerting. The authors highlight that successful production deployment requires robust architecture beyond simple prompt engineering. Finally, the article notes that this design has been successfully applied in real-world cases like LG Electronics and TechRecon.
