A Georgia Cop Used Flock to Track 2 Other Cops: His Ex and Her Friend

Dustin Bozzo, a former patrolman with the Alpharetta Police Department in Georgia, allegedly used Flock automatic license plate reader data 56 times between March and May to search for a former romantic partner who was also an officer. After noticing that her vehicle was often near another officer’s car, he searched that vehicle 29 times as well, and searched her uncle’s vehicle 18 times after she began using it following a crash. Bozzo said he was checking whether his former partner had arrived home safely and denied acting out of jealousy or with intent to harm, while investigators found that he typically labeled searches as involving a wanted person or traffic infraction. The internal report describes a prior affair that violated the city’s workplace-dating ban and says the pair had drawn attention for spending personal time together while on duty. Bozzo was placed on paid leave on July 20 and resigned on August 5, while the department’s criminal investigations division continues examining the matter. The internal investigator concluded that, regardless of Bozzo’s stated motives, his use of Flock violated department policy and the system’s authorized purpose.
