A shared agentic platform for Wood Mackenzie, on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
aws ·
This AWS post explains how Wood Mackenzie built APEX (Agentic Platform for Energy eXperience), a shared platform for delivering agents on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. It centralizes orchestration, a serverless runtime, identity, memory, gateway connectivity, guardrails, observability, and evaluation so teams can focus on business logic instead of rebuilding infrastructure. AgentCore was chosen for managed scaling, model and framework agnosticism, support for MCP and A2A, enterprise controls, and consumption-based pricing, while allowing teams to swap models and reuse tools and connectors. APEX Studio serves as the control plane with agent building, workflow design, connector management, live testing, deployment, and monitoring, while the hub-and-spoke AgentCore Gateway applies identity, policies, telemetry, and protections consistently. The same platform powers Synapse AI in Lens for grounded, streaming dashboard interactions and Woody workflows that combine web research, proprietary Lens data, charts, presentations, and human approval for higher-stakes model training. Wood Mackenzie uses identity-aware entitlements to serve internal users, external consumers, and partners from one foundation and plans to extend APEX toward governed multi-agent collaboration using MCP and A2A.
