A Vinyl Bar in Shibuya Announces $5.5M in Funding to Build Interactive Music Creation Tools
aiinsider ·
A Vinyl Bar in Shibuya, a startup focused on interactive music applications, has secured $5.5 million in pre-seed funding. The investment round included contributions from notable investors such as Mantis VC, SV Angel, Boxgroup, Quiet Capital, and Collaborative Fund. Former Spotify executive Dawn Ostroff has joined the company as an advisor to support its growth initiatives. Founder Máuhan M Zonoozy established the venture after identifying a gap between passive music consumption and active user engagement. He aims to provide playful, game-like interactions with sound that appeal to younger audiences accustomed to digital filters and gaming. The company releases its tools as individual products, including a Chrome extension for browser audio manipulation and a stem-mixing website. Its flagship iOS application, bop, allows users to create custom mixes using virtual instruments and export them directly to social media platforms. Although the startup is incorporating prompt-based sound creation features, Zonoozy emphasizes that human taste and participation remain central to the experience rather than relying solely on AI-generated content.
