AfterQuery Valued at $3.2B in New Funding Round

AfterQuery, an AI training-data startup, has reportedly raised a new funding round that values the company at $3.2 billion, according to Forbes. This comes just five months after the company announced a $30 million Series A at a $300 million valuation in April, representing more than a tenfold increase in under half a year. Y Combinator partner Gustaf Alströmer said this marks the fastest path from launch to unicorn status in the accelerator's history. The startup's founders, aged 22 and 23, joined Y Combinator's Winter 2025 cohort about 18 months ago. In April, the San Francisco-based company reported an annualized revenue run rate of $100 million and named clients including Nvidia, Legora, and Korean AI lab Motif Technologies. AfterQuery is part of a wave of startups that employ knowledge professionals such as doctors and lawyers to support AI model training. Rather than focusing only on answer accuracy, the company says its approach trains models to replicate how professionals reason through tasks by capturing their decision-making patterns.
