AI inference startup Fal doubles its valuation to $16B as demand surges
techcrunch ·
AI inference startup Fal has doubled its valuation to $16 billion following a new funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The company raised a total of $1.3 billion in this latest Series F round, with participation from major investors including Nvidia and T. Rowe Price. This announcement coincides with the completion of its Series E round, bringing combined capital raised across both rounds to $1.65 billion. The surge in valuation reflects soaring demand for AI inference services, particularly among customers utilizing open-source models. Earlier this year, Fal surpassed $800 million in annualized revenue, highlighting its rapid growth trajectory. While competitors like Baseten and Fireworks AI are also expanding, they face challenges with thin gross margins due to high compute costs. Fal was co-founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur and Gorkem Yurtseven, leveraging their backgrounds in machine learning and engineering.
