AI-powered app maker Wabi pivots to a messaging experience
techcrunch ·
Wabi, an AI startup known for allowing users to build apps via prompts, is pivoting its strategy to become an AI messenger experience. This shift responds to the rising demand for AI agents that combine conversational interfaces with productivity tasks. Founder Eugenia Kuyda describes the new Wabi 2.0 as a personal agent that generates custom user interfaces on demand to help users complete specific tasks. The company argues that traditional chat-only agents suffer from cluttered histories, whereas combining chat with dynamic software creates a superior user experience. Examples of these on-demand apps include calorie trackers, fitness logs, and family calendars tailored to specific conversation threads. Currently, the updated platform is available only through invite codes distributed on X. This move positions Wabi to compete directly with other agentic tools rather than just vibe-coding platforms.
