AI promises productivity, but for managers, it’s mostly a headache for now
techcrunch ·
A recent survey by Nielsen and Monday.com reveals that while AI promises increased productivity, it is currently creating significant challenges for managers. More than half of senior leaders report difficulty in evaluating employee performance because AI-polished output obscures individual contributions. Consequently, nearly half of managers spend more time reviewing and guiding their teams' work than before. Despite these hurdles, 94% of respondents remain enthusiastic about AI's potential, comparing its impact to the early days of the internet. However, organizational processes are struggling to keep pace with rapid technological advancements, leading to a fragmented software landscape. Managers now face the burden of supervising an increasing number of AI agents and tools, which has resulted in what the report describes as new layers of invisible labor. Furthermore, there are growing concerns regarding bias in AI-assisted performance reviews and the unpredictability of autonomous AI decisions.
