Almost no one uses AI agents to book their Uber, company says
techcrunch ·
Uber reported that very few customers are using personal AI agents to book rides, with only four such transactions occurring during its busiest week in October. During the same period, the company facilitated approximately 320 million trips and orders across both Uber and Uber Eats platforms. While Uber Eats saw slightly higher adoption with 500 orders placed via AI agents, this volume remains negligible compared to overall usage. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi described the current traction as extremely early and limited, despite the growing industry hype surrounding autonomous AI assistants. He noted that the average ride booking time is just 50 seconds, suggesting that AI agents do not currently offer significant time savings for users. Nevertheless, Uber executives remain optimistic about the potential of AI agents to drive future demand on their ecosystem. The company expects the number of major AI assistants to grow beyond ten, indicating ongoing interest from various technology firms.
