Amazon has launched its conversational AI assistant Alexa+ in India with Hindi support, expanding its rollout after earlier releases in the US, UK, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, and Germany. The assistant is available in Early Access in both Hindi and English, and users can switch languages mid-sentence, hold longer conversations, and retain context. Amazon says the upgraded assistant has a more expressive voice and can handle complex multi-step tasks, such as ordering groceries through Amazon Now and controlling smart home devices. Alexa+ is integrated with several India-based services, including Swiggy, District, TripAdvisor, MakeMyTrip, EazyDiner, and JioSaavn. After Early Access, Alexa+ will be free for Prime members, while non-Prime customers will pay ₹2,000 per month. Amazon began Hindi testing in June and English testing shortly afterward. Amazon first launched Alexa in India in English in 2017 and added Hindi in 2019; with over 600 million Hindi speakers and 20% growth in smart home device adoption over the past year, the company aims to expand its market presence. Alexa+ was first unveiled in 2025 and became available to all US users earlier this year.
