Amazon Plans $100M Indiana Manufacturing Plant to Support Robotics Network
aiinsider ·
Amazon has announced plans to invest over $100 million in a new advanced manufacturing facility located in Greenwood, Indiana. The 585,000-square-foot plant is scheduled to open by 2028 and will produce equipment for the company's North American fulfillment and robotics network. This investment is expected to create 300 manufacturing and engineering jobs with an average annual salary of nearly $100,000. The facility will utilize robotic welding, automated coating, AI-powered systems, and AWS services in its production processes. Amazon currently claims to have manufactured more than one million robots in the U.S., which assist employees in delivering 75% of customer orders worldwide. The company selected Greenwood due to its existing manufacturing workforce and logistics infrastructure, noting it has already invested over $40 billion in the state. This project expands Amazon’s domestic robotics operations, following a separate recent announcement regarding a robotics manufacturing investment in Texas.
