Amazon updates Alexa to help you manage shopping lists, subscriptions, and update delivery instructions
techcrunch ·
Ahead of the holiday season, Amazon has expanded Alexa's capabilities with over 100 new shopping-related features designed to assist users with various e-commerce tasks. The update enables voice commands for creating, registering, and editing shopping lists, allowing customers to add or modify items easily. Users can now manage subscriptions directly through the AI assistant, such as changing delivery frequencies from monthly to every three months. Additionally, Alexa supports updating delivery instructions, including modifying addresses or adding specific drop-off details. The integration also allows consumers to inquire about Prime or Audible subscription statuses and resolve billing or payment issues via voice. This move aligns with Amazon's broader strategy of integrating AI-centric shopping tools, following the recent launch of a dedicated shopping assistant. Since the beginning of the year, the usage of these agentic features has increased eightfold, with over 400 million consumers using Alexa for shopping in the last twelve months.
