Ando Emerges From Stealth With $20M to Build a Messaging Platform for Humans and AI Agents
aiinsider ·
Ando has officially launched from stealth mode with $20 million in pre-seed and seed funding, aiming to replace Slack as a unified messaging platform for both human employees and AI agents. Backed by investors such as Accel, Index Ventures, and Emergence, the company addresses the inefficiency of humans acting as intermediaries between colleagues and AI tools. Founder Sara Du developed the concept after observing that existing platforms treat agents merely as installable apps rather than genuine team participants. Ando provides AI agents with distinct identities, inboxes, and the ability to join shared channels without being explicitly tagged. The system allows agents to autonomously identify overlapping discussions, consolidate context, and suggest decisions while knowing when to escalate issues to humans. Currently serving clients in software, real estate, and finance across 15 countries, Ando plans to use the new capital for hiring and expanding token usage. The startup competes directly with established giants like Microsoft Teams and emerging developer-focused alternatives like Buzz.
