Anthropic is emerging as America's largest corporate donor ahead of its anticipated initial public offering, according to documents obtained by The Information. The company facilitates employee donations of shares and matches them with additional stock, providing early employees with triple the value of their contributions. Between October 2025 and March 2026, this program cost the firm over $660 million, significantly diluting other investors' shares. In 2025 alone, Anthropic’s donations totaled $540 million, nearly five times the amounts given by major donors like Truist Financial and BlackRock. CEO Dario Amodei and the six co-founders have pledged to donate at least 80 percent of their wealth following the IPO. Many employees adhere to Effective Altruism principles, focusing potential charitable targets on global poverty, AI safety, and animal welfare. If the stock price continues to rise after the IPO, total donation figures could reach into the billions.
