Anthropic just launched tools to show companies what their AI spending is buying
techcrunch ·
Anthropic has launched a new suite of reporting tools designed to help enterprise customers analyze the return on investment from their AI token spending. These analytics allow managers to track team productivity, costs, and workflow inefficiencies over specific time periods while offering recommendations for improvement. The move comes as Anthropic reports strong financial performance, including an operating profit and 900% net revenue retention driven by its coding tool, Claude Code. Industry data from Jellyfish indicates that spending on agentic coding tools has grown tenfold this year, now accounting for approximately two percent of total engineering costs. Despite competition from rivals like OpenAI, Anthropic maintains a dominant position due to established workflows and high switching costs for enterprises. The company emphasizes that customer data collected through these reports will not be used for model training by default. This initiative addresses the growing need for CFOs and business leaders to optimize AI expenditures rather than simply increasing them. By providing granular insights, Anthropic aims to demonstrate tangible value and encourage long-term customer retention.
