Anthropic merges Claude chat and Cowork in one interface

Anthropic has unified its Claude chat and Cowork interfaces into a single window to reduce user confusion regarding feature selection. This new design allows users to access chat, Cowork, and the Artifacts workspace without switching tabs, with the AI automatically routing requests to the appropriate tool. The update also introduces dedicated capabilities for creating presentations and collaborative documents, enabling users to generate slides or text sections directly within the app. Users can now edit content on mobile devices while initiating tasks on desktop, ensuring seamless cross-platform productivity. These enhancements are initially rolling out to Pro and Max subscribers across web, desktop, and mobile platforms over the coming weeks. Anthropic plans to extend these features to free and team tiers at a later date. This interface overhaul follows recent improvements to Cowork’s memory layer, which helps maintain context across different conversations.
