Anthropic merges Claude Chat, Cowork, and more into a single product

Anthropic is merging Claude Chat and Cowork into a single product, ending the need to choose between Chat for quick questions and Cowork for larger tasks. In the combined experience, Claude itself determines what a given task requires, addressing user complaints that the previous split felt clunky and confusing—similar to the confusion between ChatGPT and ChatGPT Work, where overlapping interfaces made it unclear which to use. Anthropic is also launching Claude Docs and Claude Slides, which allow users to create, edit, and export documents and presentations as PowerPoint or PDF files directly in the chat. The existing Claude Design feature is now integrated into conversations as well. Tasks continue running in the cloud even when users close their laptop. The rollout begins with Pro and Max plans, with Team and Free tiers to follow later.
