Anthropic's Claude Code limit change is a raise on paper but a cut in practice
decoder ·
Anthropic is reportedly reducing the effective weekly usage limits for its Claude Code AI coding assistant by 17 percent, even though the change appears to be an increase on paper. Starting September 14, the baseline limits for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans will permanently rise by 25 percent over the original figures. However, a temporary 50 percent boost is currently active, so users will have less capacity after the switch than they do now. The change was confirmed by the official Claude account on X. Anthropic says it is working on adjustments that will make users feel they get more from Claude and provide more control and transparency. The company has also shipped technical improvements to Claude Code, including performance optimizations and an automatic feedback tool that generates bug reports, with an option to include session logs and the ability to disable the feature.
