Anthropic says its workforce has become less junior and is spending more time in meetings
techcrunch ·
Anthropic has released a report highlighting significant shifts in its workforce composition and work habits over the past year. The company notes a sharp decline in junior technical hires, with the proportion of such employees dropping from 21% to 14%. Additionally, technical teams now make up a smaller share of the overall staff, falling to 56%, partly due to non-technical staff using coding tools more effectively. While AI adoption has increased productivity metrics like code output and sales closures, it has also created new challenges. Employees report spending more time managing AI outputs rather than performing traditional tasks, describing the experience as akin to babysitting. Consequently, human attention and judgment have become bottlenecks as workers process large volumes of AI-generated text. Meeting times have risen by 20% overall, driven by the perceived need for face-to-face coordination to maintain trust and accountability.
