Anthropic takes on Grok Bot, Meta's Muse, and OpenAI's Dots with its always-on agent "Claude Duet"

Anthropic has introduced a research preview of Claude Duet, an always-on AI agent designed to compete with similar offerings from Grok Bot, Meta's Muse, and OpenAI's Dots. Built on Claude Opus 5.5, the app runs in the background on cloud computers, allowing it to handle tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing billing, and managing invoices without requiring the user's device to stay active. The system connects to over 6,000 services via the Claude Marketplace, including Gmail, Slack, and Stripe, while utilizing virtual cards to protect real payment information. A key feature of Claude Duet is its safety protocol, which requires explicit user approval before executing sensitive actions like sending messages or making payments, though bank transfers remain blocked entirely. Technical safeguards include defenses against prompt injections and a new classifier that prevents the leakage of sensitive personal data. However, Anthropic acknowledges limitations in the early version, noting that the agent may misjudge urgency or miss items between checks due to usage-based limits on how frequently it scans accounts. Currently available to US subscribers through a waitlist, the tool aims to assist professionals and small business owners by proactively summarizing important tasks each morning.
