Apple Expands AI Ambitions With Huxe Talent Deal and Siri-Powered HomeView Smart Home Hub
aiinsider ·
Apple is significantly expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities through two major strategic moves. First, the company has agreed to a reverse acqui-hire deal with Huxe, a personalized audio startup that recently shut down its services. This arrangement allows Apple to recruit key talent and secure a non-exclusive license for intellectual property without fully acquiring the company, potentially avoiding antitrust scrutiny. The Huxe team previously developed AI-generated podcast features for Google's NotebookLM, suggesting Apple may integrate similar audio technologies into its Podcasts app. Simultaneously, Apple is preparing to launch HomeView, a new Siri-powered smart home hub featuring an A18 chip and display options for countertops or wall mounting. This device marks Apple's most serious entry into the smart home market since previous efforts with HomeKit and HomePod saw limited traction. Additionally, the upcoming event will likely feature updated Apple TV and HomePod mini models, alongside a reported partnership with LG for connected home devices like smart locks and thermostats.
