Archer’s Boeing Subsidiary Deal Moves Closer to Closing, Expanding Physical AI Push in Aerospace
aiinsider ·
Archer Aviation has cleared the Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust waiting period for its planned acquisition of three Boeing subsidiaries: Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu. This regulatory milestone advances a transaction aimed at creating a comprehensive physical AI platform for the aerospace and defense sectors. Archer intends to integrate its ZEE AI platform and electric aircraft technologies with Wisk’s autonomous flight systems, SkyGrid’s airspace management software, and Insitu’s uncrewed aircraft. The combined entities bring nearly two million flight hours of experience, including Wisk’s extensive testing history and Insitu’s global military presence. Although the deal still requires additional regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, Archer expects the transaction to finalize by the end of 2026. Boeing will maintain a connection to the technology through a collaboration agreement and will retain its stake in Archer. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed in the company announcements.
