ASI Secures $325M Series C at $3B Valuation to Scale AI for Physical Infrastructure
aiinsider ·
ASI, a Boston-based AI developer formerly known as Air Space Intelligence, has secured $325 million in Series C funding at a $3 billion valuation. Spark Capital led the investment round, which also included participation from affiliates of Citadel Securities, Meritech Capital, Craft Ventures, Energy Impact Partners, and Andreessen Horowitz. This deal marks one of the largest venture capital transactions in Massachusetts this year. Unlike consumer chatbots, ASI’s technology uses continuous simulations to predict physical operational conditions such as congestion and logistical bottlenecks. Founder Phillip Buckendorf emphasized the company's focus on managing physical assets like aircraft, vessels, and energy grids rather than text-based models. The funding follows significant government contracts, including an $875 million program from the U.S. Department of Transportation and FAA, as well as a $99 million contract with the U.S. Army. ASI plans to use the new capital to expand its deployments across energy, logistics, and defense sectors while growing its engineering team in Boston.
