Atom and NSK Announce Strategic Partnership to Help Develop the Humanoid Robot Industry in Japan
aiinsider ·
Atom and NSK have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop and test humanoid robot components and AI systems in Japan. The partnership will combine Atom’s robotics and physical AI capabilities with NSK’s precision-component development and mass-production expertise. NSK-developed actuators will be tested on Atom’s humanoid robots, with evaluation data used to improve performance and address mass-production challenges. The companies also plan to operate Atom robots at NSK manufacturing sites to collect real-world physical AI data for improving models and developing robots for more advanced manufacturing tasks. The agreement is intended to strengthen Japan’s domestic humanoid robotics production, although the companies provided no timetable for commercial deployment or mass production. The article also notes that Atom raised 3 billion yen in seed funding in June to develop AI-powered humanoid robots for manufacturing, logistics, and transportation.
