Automate Document Processing with Quick Automate and the IDP Accelerator
aws ·
Amazon Web Services describes how mortgage lenders can automate document processing using two AWS solutions: the GAIIC Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) Accelerator and Amazon Quick Automate. The article follows a fictional mid-size lender, Summit Mortgage, which processes about 50,000 loans per year, where manual sorting and data entry take 15–20 minutes per file and total over 15,000 hours annually. The IDP Accelerator is a serverless pipeline that converts raw documents to text, classifies them, extracts structured data, and identifies anomalies using Amazon Textract and Amazon Bedrock. Quick Automate then orchestrates the downstream workflow, routing extracted data to loan origination systems, triggering verification checks, and assigning review tasks, without custom code. Illustrative results show document processing time dropping to under 6 minutes (up to 70 percent improvement), elimination of temporary seasonal staffing, reduced keying errors, and pay-per-document pricing. The architecture scales automatically and can be extended to other document types and industries like banking, insurance, and healthcare. The post also provides links to open-source resources and a companion workshop for hands-on implementation.
