Axle Announces $17.5M Series A to Connect Insurance Carriers to the Real Economy
aiinsider ·
Axle, an AI-native clearinghouse for insurance, announced $17.5 million in Series A funding led by Base10 Partners, with continued investment from Y Combinator and Gradient and participation from Stage 2 Capital and angel investors. The company says it now clears more than $100 billion in coverage annually for over 4,000 customers, including Rocket Mortgage, Avis, Experian, and Sonic Automotive, while speeding up workflows by 20x and recovering hundreds of millions in losses. Founded by Cameron Duncan, Armaan Sikand, and Nihar Parikh, Axle addresses the insurance industry's lack of a common ledger by integrating fragmented carrier systems and normalizing unstructured data into a single API. The funding will be used to hire across engineering and go-to-market, expand the clearinghouse to more than 50 insurance segments, and deepen carrier relationships. The founders previously experienced insurance workflow problems while working at Deloitte Digital and Cox Automotive. Investors and customers emphasize that Axle replaces manual processes like faxing and phone calls with instant, accurate policy verification. The company is backed by Base10, Gradient, Y Combinator, and the early team of Plaid.
