Basecamp Research Closes $140M Series C to Advance AI-Designed Therapeutics
aiinsider ·
London-based Basecamp Research has successfully closed a $140 million Series C funding round, which was oversubscribed and led by S32. The investment includes participation from major entities such as NVIDIA, Menlo Ventures’ Anthology Fund, the NATO Innovation Fund, and The Rockefeller Foundation. These funds will be used to train the next generation of EDEN biological foundation models and advance a pipeline of AI-designed medicines toward clinical development. EDEN is trained on the Trillion Gene Atlas, described as the world’s largest proprietary biological AI dataset, built with partners like Anthropic and PacBio. The company aims to use these models to understand DNA across all life forms and generate therapeutic candidates directly from disease information. A primary application involves in vivo cell therapy, combining EDEN’s design capabilities with large serine recombinases for genome integration. To support this growth, former Verily CEO Andy Conrad joins the board, while Richard Pearce has been appointed Chief Business Officer.
