Beatport blocks fully AI-generated music from its DJ marketplace

Beatport has announced it will ban music that is entirely or mostly created by AI from its DJ marketplace. Tracks that use AI but are primarily human-made are still permitted, though they will be labeled as such. To enforce this policy, Beatport is using a detection tool from Beatdapp, a partner that previously handled streaming fraud detection. The tool filters out AI tracks during upload, and rights holders are notified when a track gets rejected. A Beatport survey showed that 60 percent of users would not play AI music in their sets, and 77 percent prefer human-made music. Only 8 percent are open to AI tracks, while 13 percent would consider them if artists were paid fairly. Beatport CEO Matt Gralen emphasized the difference between tools that help people and systems that replace them entirely. Other platforms, such as Deezer, have taken similar action, with Deezer reporting that nearly half of its daily uploads are AI-generated.
