Berlin’s Integral Announces $20.6M in Funding to Build AI-Native Accounting and Tax Platform
aiinsider ·
Berlin-based startup Integral has secured $20.6 million in Series A funding to develop an AI-native platform for accounting, tax, and payroll services targeting small and medium-sized enterprises. The investment round was jointly led by Mosaic Ventures and Reid Hoffman, with additional participation from existing backers Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst, and Puzzle Ventures. Integral utilizes AI agents to automate complex tasks such as invoice reconciliation, general ledger postings, and statutory tax return preparation. Unlike purely software-driven solutions, the company integrates its affiliated licensed practice, Integral Tax, ensuring that human professionals oversee and remain accountable for final outcomes. CEO Lukas Zörner emphasized that while AI handles the underlying work, licensed experts are essential for signing annual accounts and navigating regulatory requirements. The newly raised capital will be used to expand the workforce, specifically hiring AI engineers, licensed practitioners, and commercial staff. Additionally, funds will support the further development of automated workflows and the company’s compliance intelligence framework. This funding validates the model of combining deep automation with professional oversight to rebuild the traditional accounting industry.
