Binance now lets AI agents trade, but keeping them in check is largely up to users
techcrunch ·
Binance has launched Agent OS, a platform that allows AI agents to analyze markets and execute trades on behalf of users, integrating with tools like ChatGPT and Claude Code. Users are given granular control through dedicated sub-accounts, which block withdrawals by default and can be configured for specific activities like spot or futures trading. Users can decide whether agents need approval for each order or can act autonomously, and the amount transferred to a sub-account serves as its trading limit. Binance does not impose a separate cap on agent trading or losses, and it cannot see the reasoning behind an agent's decisions, making the sub-account the main defense against issues like prompt-injection attacks. The platform also connects agents to payments and on-chain activities, with separate daily limits for wallet transactions. Binance sees this as a first step toward broader AI-powered financial applications, and rival exchanges like Kraken, Coinbase, and OKX are also opening their infrastructure to AI agents.
