BMO Financial Group has received top recognition for Responsible AI Leadership in the 2026 Evident AI Index, achieving the highest available scores for principles, executive engagement, and strategic integration. The bank ranked second among 50 global institutions for reported AI use-case outcomes, marking it as the highest-ranking Canadian bank in this category. Additionally, BMO secured the first position in the Responsible AI Process indicator group, which evaluates governance, risk management, training, and operational controls. Overall, the institution placed within the top 20 banks globally in the comprehensive Index ranking. CEO Darryl White emphasized that trust, transparency, and accountability are central to BMO’s approach, allowing the firm to scale AI responsibly while creating value for stakeholders. To support these efforts, BMO launched its Institute for Applied AI and Quantum earlier this year to advance research and talent development. Chief AI Officer Kristin Milchanowski noted that clear accountability and trust accelerate adoption and improve experiences for both clients and employees.
