Build long-horizon agents with Grok 4.7 on Amazon Bedrock
aws ·
SpaceXAI’s Grok 4.7 is now available on Amazon Bedrock, offering enhanced capabilities for building long-horizon agents that require sustained reasoning and self-verification. The model features a configurable reasoning effort setting with four levels, allowing developers to balance thoroughness against token costs. AWS evaluated the model using three complex tasks involving fault diagnosis, maintenance scheduling, and migration optimization, all requiring search rather than simple lookup. Across 72 runs, the agent achieved a 93% success rate, with perfect accuracy at the highest reasoning effort level (xhigh). While xhigh ensured correctness, the low effort level provided a significant cost efficiency by using only one-eighth of the output tokens while maintaining high reliability. The article provides detailed guidance on accessing the model via cross-Region inference profiles and implementing robust agent loops with tool calling. It also outlines best practices for monitoring production performance by tracking output tokens and tool calls as indicators of reasoning volume. Finally, it advises matching reasoning effort to task complexity and emphasizes measuring performance on custom workloads to optimize both quality and cost.
