Building agents that transact with Anchor Browser and AgentCore payments
aws ·
AWS has introduced an integration between Anchor Browser and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments to enable AI agents to autonomously handle machine-to-machine transactions. This solution addresses the challenge of HTTP 402 Payment Required responses by allowing agents to pay for premium datasets, research APIs, and paywalled content without manual intervention. The architecture moves sensitive payment operations, such as key management and cryptographic signing, out of the agent runtime and into a managed infrastructure layer. Agents can now access x402-protected resources seamlessly while operating within configurable spending limits enforced at the infrastructure level. Private keys remain secure with external wallet providers like Coinbase CDP or Stripe Privy, ensuring they never enter the untrusted agent environment. Developers can enable this functionality simply by setting a session property, requiring no changes to existing automation code using Playwright or Puppeteer. This integration consolidates billing and provides full observability through Amazon CloudWatch for compliance and reconciliation.
