ByteDance has introduced Dramagic, a comprehensive AI platform designed to streamline the production of short dramas from initial script analysis to final video previews. The system supports simultaneous multi-user collaboration and includes built-in consistency checks to ensure high-quality output. Access to this enterprise-grade tool is facilitated through BytePlus, ByteDance's business division. This launch aligns with a significant surge in China's short drama market, which saw approximately 128,000 titles published in the first quarter of 2026. Notably, 95 percent of these productions were generated using artificial intelligence technologies. Industry experts estimate that AI video production costs range from $90 to $120 per minute, representing roughly one-tenth of traditional filming expenses. While the sector employs nearly 700,000 people directly, some performers are reportedly being displaced as studios require voice and likeness rights for AI integration.
