Calendly throws its hat into meeting note-taker circus
techcrunch ·
Calendly has entered the competitive meeting note-taker market with a product that records, transcribes, and summarizes meetings, as well as generates action items and follow-up emails. It is also testing a feature that uses system audio for transcription. The company plans to release an AI assistant called Callie that leverages its scheduling stack to manage meetings and surface context. CEO Tope Awotona explained that the goal is to automate workflows for customer-facing roles like sales and marketing, which are meeting-heavy. The market is crowded with rivals such as Granola, Fireflies, Read AI, Otter, and Fathom, plus productivity suites like Notion and ClickUp. Awotona believes the real opportunity lies in automating tasks after transcription, not just recording. To address privacy concerns, Calendly's note-taker will announce its presence in the chat, allow anyone to make it leave, and can warn participants before the meeting via its scheduling integration.
