ChatGPT can now virtually try on clothes for you
techcrunch ·
OpenAI has globally launched two new shopping features for ChatGPT, including a virtual try-on tool and a favorites function. The virtual try-on capability utilizes the newly released ChatGPT Images 2.5 model to generate more natural lighting and richer textures in generated images. Users can upload selfies or full-body photos to visualize how clothing and accessories might look on them directly within the app. Alternatively, users can upload screenshots of items and ask the assistant to simulate wearing them. The second feature allows users to save discovered products to a Library for later reference, storing them alongside their try-on images. OpenAI also enables style-based shopping queries and the identification of purchasable items from celebrity outfit photos. These updates position ChatGPT as a competitor to established platforms like Pinterest and Google in the fashion discovery space. Despite these advancements, it remains uncertain if ChatGPT will become the primary choice for consumers given existing market alternatives.
