China’s Manus raises over $500M in first funding round since split with Meta
techcrunch ·
Chinese AI lab Manus has raised over $500 million in its first funding round since the collapse of a $2 billion acquisition deal with Meta. The investment was led by Boyu Capital and IDG Capital, with participation from existing shareholders such as Tencent and HSG. This financial milestone follows Chinese authorities ordering the startup to unwind the Meta deal in April due to concerns about losing AI talent to the West. After resuming independent operations in August, Manus relocated its staff to Singapore earlier in the year and is now reportedly considering an initial public offering in Hong Kong. The company, which generates over $100 million in annual recurring revenue, continues to expand its workforce globally. Manus recently launched Manus 2.0, featuring a new architecture and products like Cue, an app that empowers personal AI agents with independent digital identities and communication capabilities.
