Chrome’s AI-powered Autofill can now dig through your Gmail to fill out forms

Google has announced an update to Chrome's AI-powered Autofill feature that allows the browser to search through users' Gmail accounts to populate online forms. This enhancement enables Chrome to suggest specific details such as flight confirmation numbers, membership IDs, tracking information, and addresses by referencing email content. The update expands upon Google’s Personal Intelligence framework, which already integrates Google Apps with the Gemini AI assistant for retrieving complex data. While this functionality is designed to improve user convenience and encourage retention within Google's ecosystem, participation remains optional. Users can choose to enable or disable enhanced autofill through their Chrome settings, and Google states that sensitive data remains encrypted. The new feature is currently rolling out to desktop users in the United States, as well as iOS and Android users accessing Gemini within Chrome.
