Class action lawsuit accuses Anthropic of overselling Claude subscriptions with deceptive usage multipliers

A class action lawsuit accuses Anthropic of misrepresenting how much usage Claude subscribers actually receive, according to The Verge. The complaint focuses on the Max plan, under which subscribers pay $100 per month for five times the usage of the Pro plan or $200 per month for twenty times the usage. The plaintiffs argue that those advertised multipliers do not apply across the board. Instead, they say the multipliers only count within five-hour windows and are further capped by a weekly limit, leaving real-world usage well below customer expectations. Anthropic confirms this structure on its help page and reserves the right to restrict usage further at its own discretion. The company filed a motion to dismiss, saying all relevant details were available through hyperlinks during the purchase process. The plaintiffs' lawyers pushed back, arguing that consumers have no way to verify what an AI service actually delivers and must rely on honest advertising. The law firm had already filed an earlier version of the class action earlier this summer.
