Claude Cowork finally remembers what you told the app in chat
techcrunch ·
Anthropic has merged the memory systems of Claude chat and Claude Cowork, so the AI retains context across both experiences and users no longer need to repeatedly re-explain details. This allows smoother movement between research and action phases, as Claude can recall prior conversations when executing tasks. Users can now read, edit, or delete the information Claude has stored in its memory. The system updates memories during chats rather than summarizing at the end, making shared knowledge timelier. By default, Claude will not save sensitive topics like health data, politics, or religious beliefs, though users can opt in to include them. Certain information, such as government-issued IDs and Social Security numbers, will never be stored. The memory feature is enabled by default on Free, Pro, and Max plans across web, desktop, and mobile, with iOS and Android users needing to update their apps.
