Claude Duet app is Anthropic’s bet on agents
techcrunch ·
Anthropic has launched Claude Duet, a new AI agent application designed to compete with rivals like Meta Muse and OpenAI Dots in the growing market for professional productivity assistants. Unlike personal agents that handle errands or bookings, Duet targets professionals and small businesses by automating complex tasks such as creating daily briefings and dashboards. Built on the Claude Opus 5.5 model, the app connects to over 6,000 plugins and can execute background work through a virtual machine while awaiting user approval. The system supports online purchases via Stripe Link or Shopify Shop Pay, though it explicitly avoids trading securities or moving money between accounts. To ensure data security, Anthropic integrated a classifier that blocks requests for sensitive information like credit card numbers by default. Claude Duet is currently available in research preview for Pro and Max customers on iOS, Android, and web, requiring users to join a waitlist.
