Clipto Raises $15M to Build the Memory Layer for the AI Era
aiinsider ·
Clipto, an AI video memory startup, announced $15 million in funding at a $250 million post-money valuation from investors including HSG, GL Ventures, EnvisionX Capital, and Palm Drive Capital. The company also launched native Windows and Android apps and introduced a Model Context Protocol enabling AI agents to search users' private media libraries. Clipto uses on-device AI to transform personal video and audio into a searchable memory layer, providing semantic search, transcription, summaries, and integrations with tools like Adobe Premiere without uploading files to the cloud. The product addresses the difficulty of searching through years of unstructured personal footage, which is often stored as isolated, inaccessible files. Over 30 million people, including professionals at Google, Apple, and Meta, use Clipto. Founder and CEO Henry Kang said AI needs a memory layer, not just reasoning. The funding will help build infrastructure for people and AI agents to search and understand private media while keeping data local. Clipto was founded in 2023.
