Daily AI usage in the U.S. has more than doubled in just six months

According to two representative surveys conducted by Epoch AI with Ipsos, the share of U.S. adults who use AI almost every day more than doubled between March and August 2026. The proportion who reported using AI on at least six out of seven days increased from 8 percent to 19 percent. At the same time, the share of occasional users who used AI only one day a week dropped from 17 percent to 10 percent. The March 2026 survey had 2,017 participants, while the August survey had 1,016; both samples were randomly selected and weighted to reflect the U.S. population. Epoch AI cautions that the results are not fully comparable because the March survey asked about overall AI use, whereas the August survey asked about each service separately and researchers used the highest reported frequency. That methodological difference could mean the August figures underestimate actual usage, according to the researchers. The findings suggest that frequent AI use among U.S. adults has grown substantially over the six-month period.
