Deepslate Secures €7.7M Seed Funding to Build European Speech-to-Speech AI Models
aiinsider ·
Deepslate, an AI model lab based in Templin, Germany, has secured €7.7 million in seed funding to develop European speech-to-speech artificial intelligence models. The investment round was led by 42CAP, with additional participation from Alstin Capital, SIVentures, and several business angels. Unlike traditional systems that convert speech to text first, Deepslate’s end-to-end approach processes spoken language directly, which helps reduce latency while preserving tone, emphasis, and dialect. The company claims its technology achieved a record-breaking 440-millisecond response time in independent benchmarks as of September 2026. Additionally, the system posted the best error rate for European languages in the CoVoST2 comparison, and is already being used in production by insurers and contact centers. A core requirement for their customers is data sovereignty, ensuring all hosting remains within the EU with self-hosting options available. The newly raised capital will be utilized for expanded model training, a German-language data program covering dialects and names, and growth in sales and infrastructure.
