Destro AI’s secret sauce is getting robots and humans on the same page
techcrunch ·
Destro, a startup emerging from stealth with an $8 million seed round, focuses on an AI intelligence layer rather than building physical robots. The company aims to synchronize human workers and robotic systems in logistics settings through its Mothership operating system. This approach was validated by Yusen Logistics, which adopted Destro’s solution for cross-docking operations after other robot startups failed to integrate into their workflow. By directing humans, carts, and trucks simultaneously, Destro reduces labor intensity and eliminates paper-based processes. The startup is expanding from a pilot program to full deployments at Yusen facilities in the Pacific Northwest and Southern California. Founder Manthan Pawar plans to replicate this cross-dock workflow across thousands of warehouses globally. While challenges remain regarding dexterous manipulation tasks, Destro believes its software harness provides essential value that makes complex workflows possible.
