Developing Enterprise Frontier Safeguards with our customers

Anthropic announced Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (EFS), a solution combining zero data retention (ZDR) privacy with advanced misuse detection. EFS stores activity data in customer-controlled cloud infrastructure rather than Anthropic's, addressing privacy concerns from regulated industries. The system was developed with over 100 customers and cloud partners like AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. EFS gives customers control over data storage, encryption keys, access policies, and review processes; automated monitoring flags go directly to customers, with no human review by Anthropic. This design responds to the challenge that detecting sophisticated misuse requires correlating data across time and accounts, which previously necessitated data retention. Anthropic emphasized it never trains on enterprise data. The rollout begins in phases later this fall, with eligible customers receiving ZDR on Fable 5 and 5.1 until EFS is ready.
