Disruptive Closes $10B Fund to Back Late-Stage AI and Defense Companies
aiinsider ·
Dallas-based investment firm Disruptive has successfully closed a $10 billion fund dedicated to supporting late-stage companies in the artificial intelligence and defense sectors. This new vehicle is designed to back at least ten companies, with individual investment checks reaching up to $1 billion each. The fund ranks among the largest venture capital raises of the year and is reportedly the biggest ever secured in Texas. Unlike its previous deal-by-deal approach, this marks Disruptive’s first blind-pool fund, allowing investors to commit capital without knowing specific target companies in advance. Founded in 2012 by Alex Davis, the firm has a history of backing major tech entities such as Palantir, Airbnb, and Spotify. More recently, Disruptive has gained attention for significant investments in AI chip startup Groq and voice-generation company ElevenLabs. Bloomberg reports that the firm has returned over $6 billion to limited partners on approximately $1.9 billion invested to date.
