Elevenlabs makes Music v2.5 available via app and API with free and pro tier options

Elevenlabs has launched Music v2.5 for its ElevenMusic product, saying it produces fuller and more natural-sounding songs. In a blind test involving 47,885 comparison pairs, listeners generally preferred v2.5, particularly in R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Rock, and orchestral genres. Users keep the rights to the tracks they generate, and the free tier offers five lossless downloads per day while the Pro tier offers 400 per month. Commercial use is permitted depending on industry and purpose, but free-tier use requires attribution. Tracks based on other artists' songs cannot be downloaded, and imitating existing musicians is prohibited. Music v2.5 is available through the API as well, with v2 still accessible. Elevenlabs also recently signed a licensing deal with Universal Music Group, though it says the deal applies only to future, separate products and not to Music v2.5. The company says it trained its existing Music models on licensed stems and music without providing details, which it contrasts with competitor Suno, which was sued over training on copyrighted content without rights holders' consent and released new models this week.
