Ema raises $77M as AI starts eating into enterprise software and services
techcrunch ·
Ema, a startup utilizing teams of AI agents to automate corporate processes in HR, IT, and finance, has secured $77 million in Series B funding. Led by Creaegis with participation from existing investors Accel, Section 32, and Prosus, this round brings Ema’s total funding to $140 million and more than quadruples its valuation since 2024. The company aims to reduce enterprise reliance on traditional SaaS products by deploying "AI employees" that coordinate multiple agents across existing applications. Founded in 2023 by former Google and Coinbase executive Surojit Chatterjee and ex-Okta executive Souvik Sen, Ema claims its revenue has grown fifty-fold over the past two years. The startup currently serves major clients such as Microsoft, Google, and PwC, boasting over one million active enterprise users. Unlike competitors, Ema does not view frontier AI labs like Anthropic or OpenAI as direct rivals, instead leveraging their progress for its own orchestration layer. Pricing is based on task completion and business outcomes rather than seats or token usage, supporting gross margins near 80%. With the new capital, Ema plans to expand its go-to-market operations and enter new regions including Asia-Pacific, South America, and the Middle East.
