Enveda secures $311M to bring more nature-derived AI drugs into clinical trials
techcrunch ·
Enveda Biosciences has secured $311 million in Series E funding to advance its pipeline of nature-derived drugs discovered through artificial intelligence. The investment, led by Catalio Capital Management with participation from Iconiq and other investors, values the biotech startup at $2 billion. This valuation represents a doubling of the company's worth from twelve months prior. Founded in 2019 by Viswa Colluru, Enveda aims to harness medicines from plants and microbes rather than synthesizing them entirely in laboratories. Although no AI-discovered drugs have yet received FDA approval, Enveda is among the pioneering companies moving candidates into human clinical trials. The company is currently testing several treatments, including one for severe skin conditions and another designed to help patients maintain weight loss after discontinuing GLP-1 medications. This funding round highlights the growing confidence in combining natural product discovery with advanced AI technologies.
